Biography & Footprints

Pierre Abou Khater was born in Beirut, on January 18,1938.
Son of Youssef from Ghadir and Myriam Ibrahim from Machghara.
Married to Terry Wang, from Taiwan.
He studied at the Patriarcal School, and then at Mar Elias, Batina.
He worked at TMA (Trans Mediterranean Airlines) from 1960 to 1974, and held many positions in different countries, especially in the Far East. He settled in Taiwan from 1969, and was the head of TMA’s office there.
He founded the Globe Express Services Company in 1974 in Taiwan.
He lived in Taiwan between 1969 and 1994, then moved back to Lebanon, to live in the country he loved, and with his family.
He passed away on October 26, 2001, in the United States of America. His remains were carried back to Ghazir where he was buried.
He founded a school for girls in china, as a symbol of his gratitude to this country. His condition was that the Lebanese flag should be raised each morning.
He contributed to the establishing of the Children Cancer Center, annexed to St. Jude Hospital, specialized in the care for children suffering from cancer.
He contributed to building an auditorium at the Faculty of Human Sciences, at the Université St. Joseph in Beirut.
He contributed to renovating the German Speaking Evangelical Congregation Building in Beirut.
He contributed to constructing many of the Notre Dame University buildings.
He contributed to build the AUB Outpatient Clinic and Wound Care Centre.
He offered donations to many universities and schools to ensure scholarships, including Notre Dame University-Louaize, American University of Beirut, Université St. Joseph, Lebanese American University, and lots of schools in different regions to educate the new generation.
He offered many donations through the Beirut Cosmopolitan Rotary Club, BCRC, in Lebanon.
He was among the main contributors to developing the village of Achkout, native town of his ancestors, especially its gardens and entrance.
He contributed to founding the Lebanese National Symphony Orchestra.
He contributed to building the Maronite Scouts Centre in Shaileh, and the founding of the Orchestra of the Maronite Scout Association.
He offered numerous medical and school aids. بيار ابو خاطر من مواليد 18 كانون الثاني 1938، بيروت.
والده يوسف من غادير، ووالدته مريم ابراهيم من مشغرة.
متزوج من تيري وانغ صينية من تايوان، من دون أولاد.
درس في الكلية البطركية ومن بعدها في مار الياس بطينا.
عمل في شركة TMA من سنة 1960 الى 1974. شغل عدة مراكز في مختلف بلدان العالم وخصوصاً في الشرق الأقصى. سكن تايوان من سنة 1969 حيث كان المدير المسؤول لمكتب TMA هناك.
أسس شركة غلوب إكسبرس سرفيسز Globe Express Services سنة 1974 في تايوان، الصين الوطنية.
عاش في تايوان من سنة 1969 لغاية 1994. إنتقل بعدها للعيش في لبنان في ظل البلد الذي أحب وبين أهله الذين أحبوه وأحبهم.
توفي في 26 تشربن الأول 2001 في الولايات المتحدة الأميركية، ثم نقل جثمانه الى لبنان ليرقد في غدير.
أنشأ مدرسة في الصين لتعليم البنات كعربون شكر الى الصين، شرطه الوحيد كان أن يرفع العلم اللبناني صباح كل يوم.
ساهم في إنشاء مركز CCC التابع لمستشفى سانت جود St. Jude المتخصص في عناية الأطفال المصابين بداء السرطان.
ساهم في بناء قاعة محاضرات في كلية جامعة القديس يوسف كلية العلوم الإنسانية.
ساهم في بناء مركز الفجر للألمان.
ساهم في بناء عدة أبنية في جامعة سيدة اللويزة.
قدم تبرعات لعدة جامعات ومدارس لتأمين أموال سنوية Scolarships من بينها LAU, USJ, AUB, NDU ومدارس عديدة في مناطق مختلفة لتنمية الجيل الجديد.
ساهم في بناء AUB Outpatient Clinic and Wound Care Centre.
قدم إعانات عجيجة بواسطة نادي روتاري BCRC في لبنان.
كان له مساهمة كبيرة في إعمار وإنماء بلدة عشقوت مسقط رأس أجداده، لاسيما حديقتها ومداخلها.
قدم مساعدات لإنشاء Lebanese National Symphony Orchestra.
ساهم في بناء المركز الكشفي الماروني في سهيلة، وتأسيس موسيقى جمعية الكشاف الماروني.
قدم العديد من المساعدات الطبية والمدرسية.
