What is Khoolood.com?
Khoolood is an online platform to remember a beloved person and keep their memory alive, it is also an online platform for publishing Obituaries and Commemorations.
Why Khoolood.com?
Khoolood system was built to register a loved one passing and bring the family and friends together. Essentially, the evolution of death notices from print to digital was the main idea of the Founder, it evolved into a place to gather all deceased family member’s legacy, and make it accessible to the whole family and their descendants across the world, allowing them to have a platform to inform, commemorate and remember. This powerful system is using the latest technologies and is very simple and easy to use.
Who can use Khoolood.com?
Anyone can view all pages of the Khoolood website. But to set up Memorials, leave message, light a candle, or even place a flower, one must first register, while making sure that all contents provided falls within our Terms of Use.
How can I create my account?
To create an account on Khoolood.com, you should either register via Facebook or fill in the registration form and your account will automatically be created. Then you have to log in every time you make a visit to Khoolood.com in order to take advantage of all our services and check your account status in your under (Your Name) in the Top right of Khoolood Website. For any problem with your account, please feel free to contact us at support@khoolood.com.
I forgot my password. How do I retrieve it?
For security purposes, all of our passwords are encrypted and even the Khoolood staff does not have access to them. If you forgot your password, you may send a request on the login page, by clicking on the link, “Forgot password” An email will be sent to the account you used to register with a link to reset the password.
Where does Khoolood.com get the information for your Obituaries and Commemorations?
For Obituaries and Commemorations listings, we receive our obituaries from Funeral Service Partners, from Funeral Homes, Municipalities across the country, and registered users who are willing to publish their death notices online.
Where can I look for more information on an Obituary?
The information we display on the Obituary listing is all that is available through the sources specified above (Funeral Services, Funeral Homes, Municipalities, and online users).
But if you still feel that you would like any amendments, please feel free to contact us at support@khoolood.com.
How can I report errors I see in an obituary and have them corrected?
We are happy to correct any errors you come across in any Obituary. Please send a detailed e-mail to support@khoolood.com, and be sure to include the person’s name, date of death, and the corrections you are requesting.
Before making any changes, additions or edits in an Obituary, we will contact the provider (Funeral Service, Funeral Home, Municipality, and online user) to check the information. These providers will log on and make the necessary corrections; Khoolood will then inform you about the updated information.
As for Obituary that you have entered as an online user, you may log into your account, in the “My Publication” section, you can select the Obituary or commemoration you want to edit, click on the button “Edit”, make the necessary changes, and then click on the button “Save”. The Obituary or Commemoration will automatically change. But in case your changes were not made correctly, please feel free to contact us by mail at support@khoolood.com, with the revised text, and your contact details, and we will be more than happy to make the corrections on your behalf.
To delete an Obituary or Commemoration, you must send an email to support@khoolood.com, with the name of the deceased person and the date of death, as well as your contact details with the reason why you want this obituary to be deleted and we will proceed accordingly.
Where can I locate my loved one in your database?
We have fifty thousands records in our database dating back to 2014. Please enter the person’s name or family name in the full text search box on top of the website, and if you did not find what you are looking for while searching by name or family name, please feel free to contact us with full details at support@khoolood.com.
We can create a record for a loved one you cannot find, but you will need to supply us with a legal proof of death (scanned copy of the death certificate) and all related details of the family and date of burial and location, etc. Please feel free to send an email to support@khoolood.com with the necessary detailed information, along with your full name and contact details.
Why set up a Memorial?
It is an opportunity to remember someone special. This information can be accessed from anywhere in the world and allows families to come together and remember their loved ones who passed away. This feature is free of charge. You can create several types of Memorials (Individual, Family and Groups). We ask you to search for existing Memorials to ensure you are not replicating existing ones.
Can I invite Family and Friends to visit and pay tribute using the system?
Khoolood offers different ways to invite family and friends to visit the different Memorials. Once you have created a Memorial and made it public, you may invite your friends and family to visit and pay tribute to your loved one, by clicking on the button. The system will give you to different options (email, share on social media, and friends list…) where you can send invitations for family and friends to view what you have created and contribute to the Memorial.
Who can access a Memorial?
Khoolood is a public site, anyone has access to it, but users have to register in order to perform any action on the site like leaving a message, lighting a candle and placing a flower. So it is completely up to you to control who can access your memorials; you can make it viewable to “Public”, which allows everyone to view and pay their respects on the memorial. You can limit it to just “Friends/Family”, which will only allow members who are connected to you to view the memorial. You can choose to make the memorial “Private” which will only allow the memorial sponsor to view it.
Can I remove any of the memorials I have created?
There are three privacy settings for your memorials that will distinguish who and who cannot view your memorials and its contents. These three privacy types are: “Public”, “Friends\Family” and “Private”. If you set your memorial to “Private”, it will only allow the sponsor of the memorial to view it and nobody else.
Or you can go to your account, and change the status of your memorial to private and accordingly no one will be able to see it anymore. Your Memorial will not be removed from Khoolood, because if you decide one day to share it again with people, you will not need to create it again.
How can I find an obituary?
To locate an obituary on Khoolood, go to obituaries page and specify your filter criteria on the left filter block. You can filter by country, family name (search in all relative names of deceased person), and alphabetical order or even type the first name and click filter so you will get the results related to your search/filter criteria. A page with a list of people sharing the same filter criteria will be shown. Click on the name of the person you are looking for, and the obituary details will be displayed.
If the obituary includes a Guest Book, a Grave or a Living Legacy, you will see a link; if not, you will be able to create one of the three mentioned services for the deceased person. You may click on the links that will allow you to view or to create these services.
How can I find old Obituaries?
Our database includes recent and old obituaries from funeral homes nationwide. Your search results based on family name will show you a list based on the most recent deaths to the old ones. If you are unable to locate the obituary you are seeking for with a name search, try to enter the first name to narrow your search.
How can I find a Guest Book?
To locate a Guest Book, click on the Guest book link in the main menu. Specify your filter criteria on the left filter block; you can filter by country, family name, alphabetical order or even type the first name and click filter so you will get the results related to your search/filter criteria. A page with a list of people sharing the Guest Book name available will be shown. Click on the name of the person you are looking for, and the requested Guest Book will be displayed.
You may write a tribute for the deceased person, or read all tributes posted by family and friends.
How can I sign a Guest Book?
To sign a Guest Book, first locate the obituary to see if it includes a Guest Book (you will see a link to visit the Guest Book), or Try to search in the Guest Book Page to locate it. Clicking the link will bring you to the page where you can view all current tributes. On the page of the Guest Book, you will read a biography of the deceased person and see his image and some other tributes by other users. On the top of the list, there is a box where you can enter your own tribute and either “post” it for free or “boost” it for better appearance.
How can I get a copy of a Guest Book?
A copy of the Guest Book that includes the biography and all the tributes may be exported as a PDF file or as an eBook version. The PDF Guest Book is a full-color, professionally ready to print that contains all of the entries currently in the online Guest Book. You may decide to share either PDF version or eBook version with Family and friends.
Why should I sponsor a Guest Book?
Creating an online Guest Book is a wonderful way to immortalize the life of your loved one, and to allow those who knew your loved one to express their sympathy and share their memories. Even if you are not a member of the family, you may consider sponsoring a Guest Book as a special gift to the family. By doing this and sharing this Virtual Book, you will be giving an opportunity to family and friends a place to express their feelings and share memories of their loved ones, by posting or reading tributes any time they would like in the months and years ahead.
To sponsor a Guest Book, please click “Create Guest Book” at the bottom of an obituary of your interest or directly from the Action Menu; this will take you to a page where you can create a “Guest Book”, and follow instructions. You should note that if you do not have the necessary information (Biography in both languages, Picture…) you may later on edit this Guest book as the main sponsor, and you may delete any tribute that you may find abusive
You may even choose to keep it “Private” by selecting this preference until you have finished editing. Then later on make it “Public” and share it with all your friends and family members.

To sponsor a Memorial Site, please click “Create Memorial Site” link in the Action Menu on Khoolood; this will take you to a page where you can create a “Memorial Site”, and follow instructions.
You may even choose to keep it “Friends/Family” by selecting this preference upon sponsoring the Memorial Site. By doing this; it allows only members who are connected to you or friends and family members that are invited, can pass by and pay respect on their Grave or on their Guest Book.
You may choose to invite other Grave sponsors who have shared the same tragic experience, to join your Memorial Site. You just have to click on the icon “Add Graves” and search for related virtual graves, and invite the Grave sponsor to Join, where an email will be sent to the sponsor asking him to join your Memorial Site, this sponsor have the option to accept or reject your invitation. Once your invitation is accepted, Sponsor’s Grave will figure in your “Memorial Site” with all related Guest Book and Living Legacy, but will remain in the “Public Grave Yard” too.
Why should I sponsor a Living Legacy?
Creating a Living Legacy micro site is a way to allow those who knew your loved one to know better their achievements during their short life. You may also want to share pictures and videos as well as articles and writings of your loved one. This is the best way to keep these memories for posterity in this new digital era. It is also a platform where all micro sites for Living Legacy are centralized and can be viewed and searched by people who want to read more about the Legacy of your loved one, or express their sympathy and share their memories too. Usually a member of the family may consider sponsoring a Living Legacy as a special gift to the family, but even friends may sponsor the Living Legacy micro site.
To sponsor a Living Legacy, please click “Create Living Legacy” at the bottom of an obituary of your interest or directly from the Action Menu; this will take you to a page where you can create a “Living Legacy”. You should note that if you do not have the necessary information (Biography in both languages, Pictures…) you may later on edit this Living Legacy as the main sponsor. You may even choose to keep it “Private” by selecting this preference, until you have finished editing, and then later on make it public and share it with all your friends and family members.
Why should I sponsor a Family Graveyard?
Creating a Family Graveyard is a wonderful way to pool the Graves of Family members in one single Yard, which may Include Grandparents or other ancestors. Furthermore, it allows those who knew your loved ones, to pay their respect during their visit by posting a tribute during their visit to a Grave or on a Guest Book.
To sponsor a Family Graveyard, please click “Create Family Graveyard” in the Action Menu; this will take you to a page where you can create a “Family Graveyard”, and follow instructions.
You may even choose to keep it “Friends/Family” by selecting this preference upon sponsoring the Family Graveyard. By doing this; it allows only members who are connected to you or friends and family members that are invited, can pass by and pay respect on their Graves or on a Guest Book.

Creating a Grave to your loved one is a wonderful way to allow those who knew your loved one, to express their sympathy during their visit to the grave by lighting a candle or posting a Virtual remembrance (Bouquets, Garlands…) or even leave a post during their visit.
Even if you are not a member of the family, you may consider sponsoring a Grave as a special gift to the family. By doing this and sharing this Virtual location with families and Friends, you will be giving an opportunity to family and friends to express their feelings any time they would like in the months and years ahead.

How do I pay my respects when I visit a Grave?
There are many ways you can pay tribute when visiting a Grave. You can light a candle, or leave a Virtual Flower, a Virtual Garland, and a Virtual Remembrance, write a personal message as a tribute or boost your personal message.

How do I pay my respects when I visit a Guest Book?
When visiting a Guest Book, you may read the defunct biography, and you may leave a tribute to the deceased person. You may also read all previous tributes posted earlier by friends and family of the deceased person. Remember that a member of the family of the deceased person have created this Guest Book in order to let people pay their respect, and the sponsor of this Guest Book will be informed via email about any post, on regular basis.

How do I pay my respects when I visit a Memorial Site?
To pay respect on a Memorial Site, you need first to locate the Memorial Site, search for the grave that you want to pay tribute on, click on this grave and go through the same process of paying a tribute on Grave mentioned above.

How do I pay my respects when I visit a Living Legacy?
There are many ways you can pay tribute when visiting a Living Legacy. You may first read the biography and all related articles of the deceased person. You may view pictures and videos posted by the sponsor of this Living Legacy, and you may add Pictures and video related to the deceased person that will not show online until the approval of the sponsor of the Living Legacy.
You may also visit his Virtual Grave to leave a comment or light a candle or leave a Virtual Remembrance. You may also visit his Guest Book and leave a tribute.

How do I pay my respects when I visit a Family Graveyard?
There are many ways you can pay tribute when visiting a Family Graveyard. First you need to choose a Grave and click on it, click on this grave and go through the same process of paying a tribute on Grave mentioned above.

Why do I need to sign up to place a tribute and why do I need to activate my account?
The main reason we get members to sign up to Khoolood, is to help stop spam being posted on our online services: Grave, Guest Books, Memorial Sites, Family Graveyard, and Living Legacy. And also we need to create a community where members can share their sympathy and pay their respect to deceased persons. In order to utilize the many features of Khoolood, we require users to activate their account and become members of this community, so that we can ensure that this account was not generated by automated software or by spammers, and continue to make Khoolood a safe place to visit.
Once registered and your account activated, you may use all the features and services available on Khoolood, and you may leave tributes or Virtual Remembrances on all pages.
How do you prevent people leaving mean and nasty tributes?
Any person posting a tribute or taking any action on Khoolood must be a registered member. This procedure safely ensures that only true posts are made. Additionally as a Sponsor, you have the ability to remove any posted tributes that is disgraceful to your loved one. If you find that a member is continually posting offensive tributes on the Grave or on the Guest Book, you may report this issue by contacting us, and we will then investigate the claim and take necessary measures against the offender according to our terms of use.
Do you offer custom design services for my memorial?
Khoolood offers predefined themes for Family Graveyard, Living Legacy and Memorial sites. In case these themes do not meet your satisfaction, we would be pleased to provide you with a quote based on your requirements, for something very special and unique. How much does it cost to sponsor a Guest Book?
Sponsoring a Guest Book costs 4.99US$, which is a onetime set-up fee, as there will be no annual fees or renewal fees, and the Guest Book will remain at Khoolood.com forever. Sponsoring a Guest book is free only if you post an Obituary + (Paid), otherwise you need to sponsor a Guest book (see sponsorship details).
How much does it cost to sponsor a Memorial Site?
Sponsoring a Memorial Site is completely free. This Memorial Site will remain at Khoolood.com as long as it is sponsored, and all related Guest Books and Graves will remain online forever. (See sponsorship details).
How much does it cost to sponsor a Living Legacy?
Sponsoring a Living Legacy costs 9.99US$, as a set-up fee, and an annual renewal fees of 4.99US$ for Maintenance and Support. . If you do not wish to renew your annual fee in the coming years, the sponsorship will be open for anyone who wishes to do so, and the administration privileges will be transferred to the new Sponsor. This Living Legacy will remain at Khoolood.com as long as it is sponsored, and all related Guest Books and Graves will remain online forever. (See sponsorship details).

All related services to the Guest book will remain active for the lifetime of the Sponsor, like regular emails, Guest book Digital copies. Any Guest Book will never be removed unless it is deemed offensive / abusive, or it is requested by family members or any action taken by the main Sponsor. Considering that those reasons are reasonable by Khoolood.com.
How long my Memorial Site will be sponsored for?
The sponsorship will last forever, as the set-up is totally free. The sponsorship will last as long as a main Sponsor pays the annual fees. All related services to the Living Legacy will remain active for the lifetime of the Sponsorship, like regular emails and all privileges, as well as related Guest Book and Grave. Any Living Legacy will never be removed, but sponsorship may be moved to a new sponsor if not renewed, or may be removed if deemed offensive / abusive, or it is requested by family members, or any action taken by the main Sponsor. How long my Family Graveyard will be sponsored for?
The sponsorship will last forever, as the set-up is totally free. All related services to the Family Graveyard will remain active for the lifetime of the Sponsor, like regular emails. All related Graves will remain in the Public Grave Yard too. Any Family Graveyard will never be removed unless it is deemed offensive / abusive or it is requested by family members or any action taken by the main Sponsor. Considering that those reasons are reasonable by Khoolood.com.
How long my Grave will be sponsored for?
The sponsorship will last forever, as the set-up is totally free. All related services to the Grave will remain active for the lifetime of the Sponsor, like regular emails, Popularity Block, Notes. And related Guest book or Living Legacy will remain linked unless they are removed for many reasons (See above). Any Grave will never be removed unless it is deemed offensive / abusive or it is requested by family members or any action taken by the main Sponsor. Considering that those reasons are reasonable by Khoolood.com.
Can I upload my own music for my Living Legacy?
For legal purposes, we can only offer a selection of licensed music and-themed songs provided in the “Create Living Legacy” Wizard.
What is Khoolood Cedars Forest?
Khoolood Cedars Forest is a field dedicated to our customers who want to immortalize a beloved family member or friend through planting an eternal cedar in their mother land flanked by the Lebanon cedars that is the symbol of this land immortalization during all those centuries since the Phoenicians.
How can I sponsor an Eternal Cedar and how much it costs?
On Khoolood Store on the Real Remembrances section you can find the Eternal Cedar. By choosing this item you will be guided through several steps that allow you to add your message and under which name the cedar to be planted etc… Then Khoolood will plant your Cedar with the best team of experts, and will always send you images to follow on the growth of this Cedar. The price of Eternal Cedar is 150 USD and will be planted in Khoolood Cedar Forests in “Shouf Biosphere Reserve”. The price is a one time setup fee with no extra charges in the future.
What is a Virtual Eternal Cedar?
A Virtual Eternal Cedar can be planted on a Grave on Khoolood website. This item is similar to Bouquets, Candles and Remembrances that can be placed on Khoolood Graves and can be purchased from Khoolood Store on Virtual remembrances section. By using the Virtual Eternal cedar you are submitting your condolences to a friend or family member who created a grave for a deceased person that he loved and missed. The Virtual Eternal Cedar is a lifetime item that will always appear with your name, and without renewal fees. Every Grave accepts only 6 Virtual Eternal Cedar so make sure to plant yours on a grave of a deceased person who really meant something to you during his life.
How can I sponsor a Virtual Eternal Cedar and how much it costs?
By selecting the Eternal Cedar Tree from Khoolood Store you will be able to place on any Grave on Khoolood website and accordingly you will be the sponsor of this Virtual Eternal Cedar. As mentioned above only six virtual eternal cedars can be placed on a Grave and the cost of the Eternal Cedar is 2.99 USD.
